Det \u00e4r Pressbyr\u00e5mus\u00e9et p\u00e5 Strandbergsgatan, rakt under Essingeleden vid Hornsberg.
Gillet fick v\u00e4nta i drygt ett \u00e5r f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 en bes\u00f6kstid.
Den 5 mars var vi elva personer som m\u00f6ttes upp p\u00e5 adressen d\u00e4r vi bj\u00f6ds p\u00e5 kaffe och
kanelbulle i en Pressbyr\u00e5butik. D\u00e4refter slussades vi upp till museet p\u00e5 sj\u00e4tte v\u00e5ningen d\u00e4r
Folke Lundberg och Birthe Gabrielsson tog emot oss. B\u00e5da \u00e4r djupt engagerade efter ett
l\u00e5ngt arbetsliv p\u00e5 Pressbyr\u00e5n. Deras uppdrag \u00e4r att h\u00e5lla kulturarvet levande i kombination
med forskning bland tusentals dokument. De informerade, visade bilder och
inredningsdetaljer fr\u00e5n f\u00f6retagets historia mellan 1906 och 1975. \u00c5r 1976 s\u00e4rskildes
Pressbyr\u00e5ns detaljhandel fr\u00e5n distributionsverksamheten och Pressbyr\u00e5n blev d\u00e4rmed en
renodlad butikskedja med kiosker och butiker. Idag ing\u00e5r Pressbyr\u00e5n i REITAN
SERVICEHANDEL SVERIGE AB.
Allt startade 1906 d\u00e5 59 tidningsutgivare gick samman och bildade AB Svenska
Pressbyr\u00e5n. Syftet var att s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lla spridning av det fria ordet i Sverige. Den egna
tidningsf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljningen skedde genom t\u00e5gombud och kiosker samtidigt som en
distributionsorganisation skulle leverera tidningar \u00f6ver landet. Det b\u00f6rjade med
ambulerande tidningsf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljande pojkar som med en tidningsbunt under armen cirkulerade
vid j\u00e4rnv\u00e4gsstationer och p\u00e5 t\u00e5gperronger. Snart fanns det ocks\u00e5 tidningsf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljare p\u00e5
t\u00e5gen, de kallades \u201dt\u00e5gbud\u201d. Det var killar i \u00e5ldern 13 \u2013 17 \u00e5r.
P\u00e5 1950-talet blev flyg, t\u00e5g och bil rationella leveransl\u00f6sningar till de nu 1 200
Pressbyr\u00e5kioskerna samt till ca 16 000 andra f\u00f6rs\u00e4ljningsst\u00e4llen. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 vis blev Sverige ett
av v\u00e4rldens mest tidningsl\u00e4sande folk. Det h\u00e4nde mycket p\u00e5 v\u00e4gen fram till dagens
Pressbyr\u00e5er med sitt breda utbud av varor. H\u00e4r n\u00e5gra glimtar\u2026.
M\u00e5nga vykort har s\u00e5lts med foton fr\u00e5n stationer och andra attraktioner fr\u00e5n st\u00e4der och
samh\u00e4llen. 1932 etablerade Pressbyr\u00e5n egen vykortstillverkning och snart kunde de
erbjuda 16 000 olika motiv. Det s\u00e5ldes ca 40 miljoner vykort under denna tid.
Pressbyr\u00e5kioskerna skulle vara en prydnad i v\u00e4ntsalarna betonade J\u00e4rnv\u00e4gsstyrelsen.
Namnkunniga arkitekter fick ofta uppdraget, bland dem ingen mindre \u00e4n arkitekt Ragnar
\u00d6stberg som ritade Pressbyr\u00e5kiosken p\u00e5 Sundsvalls Central. (finns idag p\u00e5 Julita G\u00e5rd.)
P\u00e5 1940 installerades konfektyrautomater. P\u00e5 60-talet fanns 850 automater med frukt,
choklad, tabletter, cigaretter, filmrullar och rakblad. Automaterna avvecklades 1976 p\u00e5
grund av inbrott och skadeg\u00f6relse.
Arbetskl\u00e4der med stil och finess var ocks\u00e5 viktigt samtidigt som de skulle vara praktiska.
Pressbyr\u00e5n var ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6rst med att starta Sveriges f\u00f6rsta glassfabrik och att s\u00e4lja
\u201dHygienskt f\u00f6rpackad pinnglass\u201d.
Pressbyr\u00e5n blev en f\u00f6rebild f\u00f6r m\u00e5nga f\u00f6retag, snabba att st\u00e4lla om och att hitta nya
former och l\u00f6sningar. Stort TACK till Folke och Birthe f\u00f6r ett intressant museibes\u00f6k som
gav oss inblick i en genuin svensk f\u00f6retagshistoria under 1900-talet.
